eBukhosini Solutions in collaboration with Constitution Hill present a seminar on History and Racism, titled: HISTORY & RACISM; Understanding the Black Experience; Finding Afrikan Solutions. AFRIKAN/BLACK HISTORY MONTH is a Pan-Afrikan event, observed in many countries around the world. It was first conceptualised in 1926 by Afrikan American historian, Carter G. Woodson (1875-1950), as an annual awareness of Black history and achievements. eBukhosini Solutions has, since 2003, hosted workshops and seminars during the month of February, to engage communities in knowledge about Afrikan history. The month of February is chosen as a time to acknowledge the legacies of student leader Onkgopotse Abram Tiro (1947-1974), human rights activist Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe (1924-1978) and distinguished Senegalese scholar Cheikh Anta Diop (1923-1986).

The seminar will engage community members in a thought-provoking dialogue around the history of racism, and an exploration of what racism has done to our collective understanding of history. Although the presentations will focus on racism as a systemic challenge of power, there will also be a reflection on whether the South African law provides for justice, in the case of people who have been victimized by racism on an individual basis.
