Hosting an event is lots of fun and, with the right help, the planning can be just as exciting. An important part of any event is the venue, it can make or break your event. When looking for a venue, make sure that you find one that is perfect for your event – the venue will enhance your guests’ experience, making it a memorable one. We have put together a list of five things to look out for when hunting for a venue.

Capacity

When planning an event, you need to find a venue that is big enough to accommodate all your guests. The space should also be able to accommodate those last-minute RSVPs. Moreover, the venue must be spacious enough to make sure that your guests don’t feel cramped, and it must allow freedom of movement even after you have laid out your seating. If you are planning on inviting 150 guests, go for a venue that accommodates 200 people.

Location

While it is important to have your event in a location that you love, it is equally important to make sure that your location will be easily accessible to your guests. Your location mustn’t be so far out that the GPS can’t pick it up. Additionally, make sure that your venue is located in a place that has ample parking space.

Cost

If you are on a tight budget, book the venue for the least busy time of the year. If you can, reserve the venue for a weekday, it’ll be more affordable. Don’t shy away from negotiating prices, some venues will be open to working around your budget.

Look and feel

If you have a theme for your event, keep it in mind as you look at different venues; this will make it easy for you to determine whether the venue will work or not. Look out for a venue that will be easy to decorate according to your theme. What you can also do is select a venue that already matches your theme; if your theme is rustic, look out for a venue that has a rustic look and feel.

Catering

If you decide to go for a venue that offers catering as part of the package, make sure that you go for a menu tasting. You should also choose a venue that can accommodate various dietary requirements.
