Air Tanzania returns to SA with flights between Johannesburg and Dar Es Salaam, commencing with four frequencies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays using a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

The Tanzanian carrier touched down on South African soil in late June with a VIP delegation that celebrated the return of the airline to South Africa. This is a significant step in recognising the importance of the relationship between Tanzania and South Africa as they continue extending the wings of Kilimanjaro over Africa and beyond. The investment, trade and tourism opportunities presented by expanding its network will certainly add value to both countries as they strive to offer affordable and improved connections between Tanzania and South Africa. Air Tanzania is determined to connect South Africa to Tanzania by offering the least connecting time and affordable tickets.

The airline and its dignitaries were welcomed by O.R. Tambo International Airport General Manager, Ms Bongiwe Pityi-Vokwana. “As Airports Company South Africa, we are thrilled that you have decided to come back home to Johannesburg, O.R. Tambo International Airport. Indeed, Air Tanzania is contributing to the realisation of our regional connectivity goal and further enhances the attractiveness of Johannesburg within the African continent.”

Intercontinental travel has long since been an issue to address for building more robust trade and relationship on the continent, enterprises like these are surely a step in the right direction.
