Joburg’s chicest new hotel, Hotel QSL on 44 presents refined luxury with an urban edge.

Mixing marble bathrooms, 300-percale sheets and sophisticated lighting with double-height ceilings, exposed brickwork and bare floors, Hotel QSL feeds into a growing global aesthetic of stripped down, pure modern comfort.

 Leading off a central lounge area that’s furnished with French antiques, sumptuous velvet sofas and an enviable style library of collectable Vogues, ten loft-like rooms are named for a locale, feel, or previous incarnations as workspaces. 

The Media Room and Room Juliet open onto small balconettes. Room 44 connects to Joburg’s original urban precinct, 44 Stanley, and all rooms have unique views of Joburg’s throbbing downtown district. Cocoon and Cove rooms are enclaves, that complement the Elevator, Boardroom and Basement rooms.

The standard is a customizable mini bar with a veritable feast of treats on offer, plus Showmax on demand and a kindle-for-rent with over 3,000 titles. Hotel basics also include free wifi, a laundry service and 24hour check-in. For easy airport transfers or a premium ride around town, a chauffeur-driven Mercedes E500 is available for hire.

A light breakfast is included, but a real plus is a breakfast next door at the Salvation Cafe, one of many dining options available at 44 Stanley, where a selection of bespoke luxury shops delivers the best of South Africa. Dinner is also on offer (on a voucher system) at the ever popular Il Giardino.
