Brought to you by the world’s number one tequila, Jose Cuervo, Seize the City is a bold, call-to-arms for every renegade, rebel and nightlife activist looking to prove that Tomorrow is Overrated. With over 250 years of tequila-making experience and acting as the ultimate catalyst for living in the moment, Jose Cuervo continued to celebrate the progressive DIY party culture of Joburg youth with the latest instalment of its Seize the City series.

On Sunday, 14 October, the highly anticipated Jose Cuervo’s Seize the City Season 03 took over yet another underground location in Johannesburg’s city centre – transforming it into an experience reminiscent of a 90’s rave. The powerful local line up on the night was driven by the combination of iconic performance duo FAKA, scene newcomer LeloWhat’sGood, resident superstar DJ Doowap and Mvelo.

The heartbeat of Season 03 was UK DJ and party starter Siobhan Bell, making her debut performance in South Africa. Hailing from London, her infamous glitchy 90s’ sound has been making waves across the world, earning her support from stalwarts like Skepta, Gucci Mane and Virgil Abloh. But the night didn’t stop there, as local celebrity turned rapper Boity, joined Bell on stage to perform her latest release, “WuzDat”, much to the crowd's surprise, creating the perfect mic drop moment to end off the event.

For the third season in a row, Jose Cuervo collaborated with young creators who embody the renegade mindset to draw a crowd of the city’s influential youth, mobilized by lo-fi and mysterious social content. Jose Cuervo has built an overwhelming response and resonance with the youth of Johannesburg, and Season 03 proved that Seize the City is not just an event, it’s a movement. Here’s to Season 4.
