This is because a new consignment that features a tweaked exterior and some mild-to-wild changes beneath the skin is just around the corner. The biggest news about the MY15 BMW 3 Series has got to be the new engine and change in boot-lid identity for the middle order models. The high output turbo 2,0-litre four cylinder, formerly known as the 328i, will now become the 330i and the 3.0-litre six-cylinder 335i, now wielding extra power to the tune of 240kW, changes identity and will wear the 340i badge. Other big news is that the rep-spec 318i will now use the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol 3-cylinder that was introduced in the new Mini. The rest of the range gets enhanced bits here and there with engines gaining greener credentials through various efforts, such as 8-speed autos across the board; special eco tyres; enhanced fuel saving measures such as the ‘coasting function’, a wider diesel engine line up and the introduction of a new 3 cylinder engine. Aesthetically similar but varied in the detail, the exterior tweaks applied are minute but significant and are said to brighten up the model through a number of features, namely revised air intakes and reworked rear tail lights. The main head beams are said to incorporate a striking new daytime driving design while new materials are used on the inside. Expect an array of new-style wheels too. In terms of tech the new Nav system that fuses LTE mobile tech, it’s said to start quicker in its route calculation and will update maps for free over a period of 3 years. Meanwhile the HUD (Head Up Display) unit also bundles up all crucial data on the windscreen. Park Assist will now handle parallel parking too.
