Grammy 2016 Winners: The Complete List 16th February 2016 Music Celebrating music through the GRAMMY Awards for more than 50 years, The Recording Academy continues its rich legacy and ongoing growth as the premier outlet for honoring achievements in the recording arts and supporting the music community. The GRAMMYs are the only peer-presented award to honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency, and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position. Over the last decade in particular, The Academy has expanded its goals from the important work of recognizing the best in music through the GRAMMY Awards to establishing itself as the preeminent arts advocacy and outreach organization. The 58th Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by LL Cool J, was one for the history books. Kenrick Lamar, nominated for 11 GRAMMYs and walking away with 5, put on a powerful performance of what it means to be black in America as he was strapped in shackles. Taylor Swift won the Album of the Year Award for the second time, becoming the first woman to ever win the award twice. Rihanna regrettably couldn’t sing at the awards due to bronchitis and Stevie Wonder teased the audience by flashing the winner of Song of the Year — written in braille, to raise awareness about the need for equal access for those with disabilities.
