The world’s most loved champagne, Moët & Chandon, hosted a sparkling list of South African stars to celebrate Moët Grand Day 2018. This global, day-to-night party saw 80 countries worldwide uniting in champagne celebration on June 9th bringing together over a million people from Hong Kong to Lagos and Johannesburg to Montreal. For 24 hours, friends and guests of the Champagne House came together around the globe to raise their champagne glasses in a toast to the memorable moments that bring joy to their lives.

This year’s glamorous gold-carpet Moët Grand Day party hosted at the prestigious Four Seasons, The Westcliff’s Arcadia Ballroom, saw Johannesburg once again take its place on the world stage. Moët Grand Day has become the champagne party of the year, aptly capturing the ‘Must be Moët’ mindset The event attracted the country’s top celebrities, music royalty and business personalities including Boitumelo Thulo ‘Boity’, Luthando Shosha ‘Lootlove’, Dineo Moeketsi, Khanya Mkangisa and Kelly Khumalo.

“The name Moët & Chandon is synonymous today with celebration because for 275 years, we have combined our ‘savoir-faire’ (know-how) with our own art of the fête (party) to perfect a unique ‘savoir-fête’ that has made our champagnes a great choice for toasting both intimate moments and important milestones,” said Patrick Leslie, Moët Hennessy Champagne Portfolio Brand Manager. “Moët & Chandon Grand Day gives us the opportunity to share the magic of champagne and celebrate a day dedicated to the joys of life.”

The ‘City of Gold’ stayed true to its name with guests arriving in glittering style, with show-shopping outfits in keeping with the ‘Gold is Grand’ dress-code. Lorna Maseko was presented with the award for ‘most glamorous’ in a fitted sequined mini dress, with Troy Molaiwa claiming the title of ‘most stylish’ in a stunning black coat embellished with gold buttons.

TV crews and dozens of photographers captured celebrity guests reveling in the ‘gold’ themed party which included guests enjoying mini magnums from Africa’s first ‘mini’ Moët & Chandon vending machine, a rocking set by DJ of the moment Lerato Kganyago; incredible choreographed dancers and a gold 6 litre illuminated Moët & Chandon was uncorked and served on the dancefloor, setting the ‘flow’ for an evening of generosity and celebration.  

As guests enjoyed the evening’s festivities, a countdown culminated in a connected group toast leading up to a final toast to Moët & Chandon with a golden buzzer releasing gold confetti, a true Moët Moment which set the cheerful cadence for this magical evening.

Guests were treated to an indulgent range of Moët & Chandon during the celebration – including Moët & Chandon Impérial, Moët Nectar Impérial and Moët Nectar Impérial Rosé. In true generous Moët & Chandon style champagne was poured from magnums into golden Moët goblets

To celebrate Moët Grand Day, Moët & Chandon hosted grand experiences all over South Africa, from the High Tea at the One and Only hotel in Cape Town to all-night celebrations in select venues across Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, proving once again that, to revel in life’s most memorable moments in grand champagne style, it Must be Moët.
